Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
Professional ethical standard and laws help guide the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. Your privacy and confidentiality are very important to me and I work at providing a safe and confidential environment for all my clients. There are only a few exceptions to confidentiality, and these include suspected child abuse, dependant adult, or elder abuse; if a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s); lastly, if a client intends to harm himself or herself. In any of these situations, we will talk about how we can best ensure everyone's safety, including notifications (i.e., suspending confidentiality) and actions as required by law in order to help ensure safety.

When appropriate and desired by the client, we may use email, telephone, web chats. Clients should be aware that while I treat their communication with confidentiality, the actual transmission of email and other internet-based forms of communication are not necessarily private.
